Jackets and Coats
Gunn Worn Canvas
Heavyweight (10 oz) - The workhorse of the fabric
range. Made from 280g m2 (loom state) high quality blended carded cotton,
its construction is 24/2 X 24/2 to produce a tight weave that will
protect against wind and water yet is tough enough to withstand the rugged
requirements of the extreme weather product range. Our tough canvas that
has been scrubbed down to give it a rugged vintage finish.
Oilskin Cloth
Built to last using a tightly woven heavy weight
canvas and impregnated with legendary Spinifex Microwax. Our oilskin
jackets and coats will no doubt provide a lifetime of work and
wear. The origins of traditional oilskin canvas are traced back
three generations where ancestors manned a lighthouse serving the remote
Southern Ocean of Australia. Here oilskin canvas was constructed
using a wringer mangler so they could protect wharf equipment and themselves
from the unrelenting harsh elements. This was the basis upon which the
now world famous "Microwax" was developed and is used for our oilskin
and scrubbed product range. The development continues. Using a
unique blend of Australian waxes and oils, our oilskin canvas is not only
completely water and windproof; it is also fully breathable allowing sweat to
permeate through the fabric. Unlike most oilskin fabrics you may find on
the market, our "Microwax" oilskin canvas is pleasantly odorless with
a drier handle that remains supple even in the colder climates.
Scrubbed - Over the years, a technique has developed that gives
traditional oilskin canvas an aged rugged look with a dry feel. This
technique is known as scrubbed. When worn for 10 to 15 years in the
bush,
traditional oilskin products develop a rustic character. A special
washing process was developed in order to capture this aged character
and
texture for new garments, we call this scrubbed. The scrubbed
process gives our traditional oilskin cloth a dryhandle with a rugged
vintage
finish and fits perfectly in our tough built to last product range.
